1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Localé ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Localé mobile application (the "App"). Localé is operated by Stuart Cioccarelli.
2. Information We Collect
- Saved items and feedback: items you add to My List, and any feedback you submit, are stored in our database (Supabase) to provide that feature and to improve the App.
- Device and usage data: basic technical information such as app version, device type, and operating system, used to diagnose issues and improve performance.
- Contact information: if you submit feedback or contact us directly, we may collect any information you choose to include, such as an email address if you provide one.
- Local tips you share: if you submit a tip through the "Share your local tip" feature, the tip text, an optional category, and the submission date are stored and may be published in the App as described in section 5 below.
Localé does not request access to your device's location, and does not require you to create an account to use the App.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide and personalise recommendations
- To maintain your saved items
- To respond to feedback and support requests
- To monitor and improve app performance and reliability
- To comply with legal obligations
4. AI-Generated Content and Translation
Localé uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude models) to generate recommendations, cross-checked where possible against Google Places data. App content may also be automatically translated by AI into the language you select. AI-generated and AI-translated content may be inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete, and should be verified independently before you rely on it.
5. Explorer Tips (Published User Content)
Tips submitted through the "Share your local tip" feature may be published in the App and shown to all users. Before anything becomes visible:
- Every tip is screened automatically (including by AI) for spam, advertising, personal information, and inappropriate content, and is then reviewed by a human. Nothing is published without human approval.
- Published tips display the tip text, a category tag, and the date. We may add an editorial note alongside your tip, such as a venue verification or map link.
- Published tips may be automatically translated into the App's other supported languages.
- Please do not include personal information — your own or anyone else's — in a tip. Tips containing personal information are rejected during screening.
To have a tip you submitted removed, contact us at hello@localetravelapp.com or use the in-app Report link, which hides a tip immediately pending review.
6. Third-Party Service Providers
We share limited data with service providers who process it on our behalf:
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — generates recommendation content
- Google (Places API) — venue data verification
- Supabase — database hosting for saved items and feedback
- Resend — used only for our own internal admin notifications, not for emailing users directly
- Other content services (such as Viator for experience results and Open-Meteo for weather) — receive only the city or search terms needed to return results, never personal information
These providers may process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States.
7. Affiliate Links
Some links in the App lead to third-party booking or information sites. We may earn a commission if you make a purchase or booking through these links, at no extra cost to you. We do not share more personal data with affiliate partners than is necessary for the referral to function.
8. Data Sharing and Sale
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as described in this Policy or as required by law.
9. Data Retention
We retain saved items, feedback, and submitted tips for as long as your use of the App requires, or until you request deletion.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To make a request, contact us at hello@localetravelapp.com.
11. Children's Privacy
Localé is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable local minimum age), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. International Data Transfers
Because our service providers operate internationally, your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States.
13. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
